THE GLUE FACTORY PROJECT – A Seat At The Table, CORNING WORKS & The New Hazlett Theater present

March 25 - 28, 2010
CORNING WORKS & The New Hazlett Theater present
THE GLUE FACTORY PROJECT – A Seat At The Table

6 consummate performers from the field of dance explore the question
of who deserves...
A SEAT AT THE TABLE.

A series of provocative vignettes designed to refract our perspectives on that proverbial place of belonging and power — from the domestic dinner tables to the seats of social power. Who gets a seat? Who makes the offer? Once seated…then what?

24’ of table, a metamorphic game of musical chairs, transparent alliances, personal compromises ... one’s relative position and perspective grows more & more uncertain. What does a seat at the table really get you anyway?

Featuring
Michael Blake (former dancer with The José Limón Dance Company and Donald Byrd), David Covey (award-winning dance lighting designer and performer), Janet Lilly (former principal dancer with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company), Peter Sparling (former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Company) Cathy Young (former principal dancer with Danny Buraczeski’s JAZZDANCE), and Beth Corning

SHOW TIMES:
Thurs. 8pm
includes Champagne Reception catered by DISH OSTERIA BAR (doors open at 6:30)
Fri. & Sat. 8pm

Hunt for the Forbidden Fruit

Click to see images larger. The organizers would like for you to join one of two groups if you're having trouble. There's a post about it @ http://huntlocations.blogspot.com/2010/01/hunt-for-forbidden-fruit-hunt.html. This hunt is for ADULTS only and many of the locations you will have to be verified to enter. The information & prizes below are representative of the items obtained when I did the hunt and prizes may change, items may have moved & be easier to find or items may have been set for sale that were not for sale when the hunt was done. I will not update hunt posts as they give a proper indication of difficulty in finding objects and what prizes were like at the time the hunt originally started.

Many items were not out or out and not set for sale hours after the hunt began. All items found are either pictured or given a description. If your item is not seen it is because it was not found or not set for sale at the time I did the hunt.

Store 30 indicated that the prizes would be updated several times during the hunt; so keep in mind this prize will change & you may want to check back at this particular store several times during the hunt. #47 - contained only a landmark to the next store. Some items are blurred to retain pg standards.

Skin used throughout is Naomi base Freckle from Heaven's Skin & Shape won by playing the memory game in store. http://slurl.com/secondlife/uemachi/5/12/29

The hair is Laqroki ~ Fox and the fat pack is free. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Laqroki/93/68/29

97 fruit was found and contained only a landmark to next store.
98 item contains a naughty animation. ^_^ #99 prize is a piece of artwork including nudity. If you're so inclined you may visit the artist's gallery here: http://dreamsindigitalart.com

Thank you to organizers & participating merchants; good luck to all who plan on doing the hunt!

Hairy stuff

Sorry for the lack of post on my part. If you've been following me on twitter you might know that I've either been writing papers for university or working and in between simply enjoying life. :) Hope everyone had a great start to the new year!

My hair color was annoying me for some time now and I'm going to the hairdresser's to have a cut & color today. I hope it's going to turn out alright...

The necklace with the keys was a gift from MiJi and I treasure it very much. I attached another small key which actually opens something that belongs to my mom. Hope I don't lose it!

It's the first time I'm wearing my sister's furry hat and I love it! I'm hoping to wear it more often during this cold season. The leopard scarf is actually my grandmother's headscarf! Funny that this outfit incorporates pieces of the most important people in my life...

Blazer: Joseph Alain Scherrer Creationen Sweater: JJ Benson
Scarf: my grandmother's Necklace: gift from MiJi
Hat & Jeans: H&M Clutch: Avant Premiere
Boots: Graceland Bangle: Mango

Call To Artists: Muscular Dystrophy Association Fundraiser

from:

Wendy Murdy
Executive Director, Pittsburgh District Office
Muscular Dystrophy Association

I represent the Pittsburgh division of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and our annual Muscle Team Event. www.pittsburghmuscleteam.org

Pittsburgh Muscle Team® is a branded high-profile social event that incorporates community leaders, professional athletes, and MDA Goodwill Ambassadors. This exciting event is scheduled to take place at Heinz Field on Thursday, March 18, 2010.

After attending the Handmade Arcade and seeing the quality of items that the artists created, I hope that I can present an opportunity that will beneficial to all. Our event features a silent auction. I believe that this is a priceless opportunity for emerging Pittsburgh artists to showcase their work by donating one of their items and gaining visibility to over 1000 members of Pittsburgh’s business community.

In appreciation of their tax-deductible donation, they will receive recognition in the commemorative event journal. They may also provide promotional materials to be displayed throughout the evening with the donation such as an 8 x 10 sign or business cards.

The funds raised from this event will provide services for families living with a neuromuscular disease in southwestern Pennsylvania. Donations will directly benefit those persons and families in our area by providing such services as payment towards leg braces and wheelchairs, support groups, clinic visits, summer camp and furthering MDA research.

Is it possible for you to forward this information along to the participating artists and post it on your webpage?

Thank you so much,

Wendy
